Flat Shoals and Lorraine Elementary Schools were recognized by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement for improvements and high performance in student achievement.
Flat Shoals earned the gold award in the Greatest Gains category.
“Being recognized for greatest gains affirms that our focus and dedication to continuous improvement is truly making a difference,” said Flat Shoals Principal Dr. Tammy Hightower. “I am proud of the teachers, staff, students and parents of Flat Shoals for their hard work and commitment to raising the bar and reaching those goals.”
This was Lorraine Elementary second consecutive year in winning the gold award in the Highest Performance category.
“Lorraine Elementary is thrilled to receive this very prestigious award,” said Principal Dr. David Ray. “It is a reflection of the outstanding efforts of our students, teachers, and parents, and the teamwork that exists between them.”
Georgia's Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) awards schools on four levels – Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze - that show excellence in student achievement and/or progress based on exams such as the CRCT (Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests) and Adequate Yearly Progress status.
