MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The governors of Alabama and Georgia recently met face-to-face to discuss a long-running legal dispute over regional water use.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal flew to Montgomery on June 15 and met for roughly two hours with Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley. Bentley spokeswoman Jennifer Ardis says the two men met in Bentley's office to talk over the tri-state water dispute between Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Ardis says a court order prevents her from describing the meeting in detail. She says Bentley plans to continue discussions with Deal, but a next date has not been set.

Deal spokesman Brian Robinson confirmed the meeting but refused to describe it further.

Documents obtained using Georgia's open records law show that Deal traveled to the unpublicized meeting with his chief of staff and two attorneys.
