The Helping Hands free health clinic is holding a podiatry and diabetes screening workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 8, starting at 10 a.m. for uninsured patients with feet problems.

Podiatrist Dr. Howard Bryant will be attending to patients at the clinic on Tuesday. During that time, patients will also be screened for diabetes.

Appointments can be made by calling 770 860-9545 or emailing helpinghandsoutreach@earthlink.net. Walk-in patients will also be taken.

"I'm excited about this because we have a lot of people with damage to their feet with diabetes," said co-director Janice Morris. "There's some people that don't know they're diabetic that come in with feet injuries."

Foot injuries are a common issue for diabetics partly due to combination of poor circulation, loss of feeling, and ulcers or sores that do not heal.

The Helping Hands clinic is also offering vouchers for free flu shots, from a donation to the United Way. A limited number of vouchers of the uninsured and at risk are available and are given on a first come, first served basis.

The clinic is located at 1733 Lake Rockaway Road, Conyers. For more information, visit the website at www.helpinghandsga.com or call 770 860-9545
