Free classes at Oxford College

The community is invited to attend a college course through the Oxford College Community Classroom.

Oxford College and Emory University faculty members will teach the free classes with starting dates from Oct. 22 through Nov. 19.

Classes include:

Oct. 22: "The President in a Crowded Room: How the Higgs Particle Explains Mass," Effrosyni Seitaridou, assistant professor of physics.

Oct. 29: "The Crystal Cathedral: Reflections on a Modern Ministry," Monica Ali, associate professor of chemistry emerita.

Nov. 12: "Just Fore Play: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Anthropology of Love," Bradd Shore, professor of anthropology, Emory.

Nov. 19: "Girls with Guns: Hardboiled Chick-Lit and the Newest American Female Sleuths," Adriane Ivey, associate professor of English.

All OCCC classes will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. in the community room at Oxford City Hall, 110 West Clark St. Reservations are not needed.

"We are so pleased to be a part of Oxford, Covington, and Newton County. The OCCC is one way we can give back to the communities we are part of, while getting to know our fellow residents better," said Margaret Dugan, Oxford College director of auxiliary operations.
