The Guardians of the Ribbon will be at the Mall at Stonecrest, along with free medical screening services, on April 15and 16, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.  in the fight against cancer.

This event will take place at the upper level Borders entrance, and will offer guests a chance to sign the pink fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances, as a way of showing support to rid the world of cancer. The Guardians will also be on hand selling to “Pink Heals” T-shirts to raise funds for the non-profit.

DeKalb Medical’s “Wellness on Wheels” bus will be present Friday, April 15 from 2-5 p.m. offering free blood pressure, cholesterol, and cancer screenings. On Saturday, April 16 they will offer mammograms to approximately 45 preregistered patients from 10 am to 3 pm. To schedule appointments for this mammography service, call 404-501-9355.

Wellness on Wheels is a traveling clinic that offers both free and “paid” healthcare services to medically underserved communities.  The new van, which replaced the original van used in 2009, now has a permanent digital mammography unit on board instead of a portable analog unit that had to be moved on and off the old van. The new mammography unit provides the same detailed image that patients receive in the hospital.

The event will also include members of the DeKalb County Police and Fire Rescue Departments.

The Guardians of the Ribbon is a group of firefighters, police officers and leaders in the community, with the purpose of raising awareness and money for the fight against cancer for the women. The Guardians of the Ribbon have raised more than $200,000 for cities across the country by bringing the Pink Fire Trucks to promote love and support for cancer patients.

Every year the various chapters of the Guardian travel throughout the country to spread their awareness campaign supporting all women in their fight against cancer.

The Mall at Stonecrest is located off I-20, exit 75 Turner Hill Road in Lithonia, Georgia. For more information please visit www.mallatstonecrest.com and our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mallatstonecrest
