The nominee for fire chief and nominee for county human resources director were named Wednesday afternoon. Rockdale County CEO and Commission Chairman Richard Oden announced his top picks in a released statment.
Frank Wilson, currently deputy chief in Jerome, Idaho, was named as the finalist for fire chief. (see sidebar for more information)
Darryl Bowie, who currently works for Target Stores Inc., was named as the final candidate for human resources director. (see sidebar for more information)
Oden said in a released statement on Wednesday, "The national pool was full of qualified people with extraordinary skills and experience... Bowie and Wilson were the most outstanding on the list, highlighted by their impressive careers and expertise.”
The panel assembled to interview review applicants for the Human Resources Director position included Kay Bolick, director of Human Resources and Risk Management for the city of Smyrna, Ga..; Rita Odom, Human Resources director for the city of Rome, Ga.; Doris Patterson, deputy director for Rockdale County Human Resources; Rockdale County Clerk of Courts Ruth Wilson for Rockdale Superior and State Courts; and Rockdale County Tax CommissionerDan Ray.
The panel assembled to interview and review applicants for Fire and Rescue chief included Henry County Fire Chief William Lacy; Stephen Couch, public safety training instructor IV for the Georgia Fire Academy and former Chief of the Walton County Fire and Rescue Department; Rockdale County Interim Fire and Rescue Chief Joel Yoder; Janet Rutledge, senior manager, Rockdale County Department of Human Resources; and Lamar Sims, director of the Rockdale County Board of Assessors.
The Board of Commissioners is expected to vote on the candidates at the July 26 BOC meeting, 10 a.m., 901 Main Street, Conyers.
