The Rockdale County Bulldogs dropped their second decision of the season Friday night in the opening round of the ABR Tip Off Tournament to Evans High School, falling 79-64 to the Knights.
Connor Ferrell led the Bulldogs with 11 points and finished as Rockdale’s only scorer in double figures.
Patrick Laurent and K’lon Lovett finished with 17 apiece for the Knights, moving their record to 2-0. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-2 after Rockdale lost to Stephenson in its season opener Tuesday.
Once again the Bulldogs led early, jumping out to a 17-5 lead behind three 3-pointers from Jelani Clarington, Jalen Jordan and Julian McKnights, but the Knights turned a 12-point deficit into a 39-21 lead at the break, outscoring Rockdale by 30 in the second quarter.
Rockdale rallied back in the final three minutes of the contest, going on a 12-0 spurt to close the game, but the Knights’ 34 points in the second quarter proved to be too much for the Bulldogs to overcome.
Rockdale returns to action Dec. 3 on the road at Luella in region play.
