IN BRIEF: The divorce trial of Donald Ferguson, who ran in 2008 for Rockdale County Sheriff and announced his bid again for 2012, and Eronnika Renai Ferguson wrapped this afternoon in Rockdale County Superior Court. The jury granted divorce on the basis of irreconcilable differences instead of on the grounds of cruelty, as Eronnika Ferguson was seeking, and did not grant alimony to her but did order that he pay certain expenses. Donald Ferguson's bid for sheriff was at the center of Eronnika Ferguson's accusations of against him. Her attorney Mike Waldrup argued that the whirlwind 4-month marriage was a "con" and done for political purposes. Donald Ferguson's attorney Eugene Butt said his client sought divorce because she had not told him about a sexually transmitted disease she contracted.
