Tiny Laster's 3rd Annual FastPitch Softball Tournament to be held in Rockdale

Teams from 13 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU's) representing the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), and Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) will participate in the Tiny Laster's 3rd Annual FastPitch Softball Tournament, located this year at Rockdale County's Earl O'Neal Sports Complex.

The three-day event, named in honor of Hampton University's legendary softball and volleyball coach, will be held in February 12 through 14, 2010, at the Earl O'Neal Sports Complex, located at 2709 Old Covington Road, Conyers.

For the first time in this tournament's history, the 2009 MEAC Champion Lady Rattlers of Florida A&M University will play against the 2009 SWAC Champion Lady Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University. This game will be played on Friday, February 12, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.

Attending teams will include the six-time consecutive SWAC Champion Lady Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University and conference rivals Alabama A&M University, Alcorn State University, and Grambling State University. Perennial MEAC powers Florida A&M University 2009 MEAC Champions, Hampton University, Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina A&T State University, South Carolina State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shores, and Winston Salem State University will also make their presence known. Tennessee State University, from the Ohio Valley Conference, will also join in this year's festivities.

North Carolina A&T State University has dominated this tournament for the past two years posting a perfect 8-0 record. During the life span of this tournament, the MEAC and SWAC have split years in collecting the most wins for the tournament. This year promises to be exciting and full of astounding plays.
