Fourteen members of the Rockdale County Task Force Against Family Violence were recognized by the Georgia State Legislature during their annual visit to the State Capitol to participate in the Stop Violence Against Women Day on Feb. 3, 2011. The Task Force met with the Rockdale delegation to discuss issues pertaining to family violence. The delegation acknowledged the work conducted by the Task Force with a House Resolution.
Representatives Dickerson, Stephenson, Kendrick and Dawkins-Haigler took the well of the House as a group with Rep. Dickerson presenting a list of achievements that the Task Force accomplished on behalf of all victims of family violence in Rockdale County. The delegation also recognized the leadership of Judge Nancy Bills as its Chair.
“The resolution was certainly an honor,” Bills said. “But we hope it helps to raise awareness about the serious and continuing effects of family violence in our community and around out state.”
During the visit, the Task Force discussed legislative concerns with the members of the delegation. The primary issues concerned the state budget and a proposal that would cut State funding for shelters and utilizes federal funds.
