Olde Town Fall Festival
First off is the Olde Town Fall Festival, which promises to be a doozy, on today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over 100 vendors are signed up, and this is an excellent place to find great gifts and do a little early holiday shopping. Plus, your money will likely be supporting local businesses, which comes back to the local economy and helps support local services. We're proud to say the Rockdale News will be there as well. Stop by our booth to have your picture taken for The News; a few lucky winners will be printed in next week's edition.
Operation Sandbox
Also today, the hard-working, selfless folks at Operation Sandbox are holding a motorcycle ride to raise funds for care packages for troops serving abroad. Not only will there be speakers such as Brig. Gen. Maria Britt, head of the Ga. Army National Guard, and former NFL player Chris Doleman as grand marshal, there will also be a live, direct military video feed to Afghanistan and Iraq, so families and friends can talk with personnel serving there. The program starts at 10 a.m. at the Granite Mountain Harley Davidson on Dogwood Drive and the ride leaves at 11 a.m. For more information, call 770-784-9155. www.operationsandboxga.com
Marching Band Festival
And finally, if you love a good show, head over to Rockdale County High School this afternoon and evening. Some of the finest marching bands from all over the region will be performing at RCHS all day starting at 1:45 p.m. at the 32nd annual Greater Atlanta Marching Festival, including our local high schools.
