Hunter Elliott finished the 2012 golf season in style, finishing as low medalist in the Region 8-AAAA tournament and helping Heritage reach the state tournament.
With the golf season and school year now over, the highlights don't stop for the Patriots' No. 1 golfer.
Elliott was selected to the AAAA All-State Golf team by the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association recently.
"This is a huge honor," Heritage coach Mike Swords said.
Elliott joins Billy Johns and Ben Holm of Johns Creek, Garrett Marschke of Lambert, Sam Odi and Emmanuel Kountakis of Lakeside, Evans, John Quirk and Jack Larkin of Marist, Michael Hines of Kell and Justin Conelly of Union Grove on the All-State team.
Habersham Central's Lee McCoy, who finished second to Elliott in the Region 8-AAAA tournament, was named the AAAA Player of the Year.
McCoy was the low medalist in the state tournament.
Elliott, who also competes with Atlanta Junior Golf, stepped into the role of the Patriots' top golfer this season after the graduation of his brother Harrison Elliott.
"He's learned a lot from his brother and has kind of taken over Harrison's role this year," Swords recently said to The News.
