Elizabeth Gilbert Mooney, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 after a prolonged illness. She was a member of Lily Dale Church of Christ in Erwin, TN. Elizabeth is one of twelve children of Carl and Melda Tinker Gilbert. She is survived by her husband, George Hoover Mooney; children, Angela Oakes and her husband Tom, Tony Mooney and his wife Lori, and Renee Kelley and her husband John; grandchildren, Alicia Stockton and her husband Justin, Adam Mooney, Kevin Hutson and his wife Dawn, and Lacey Oakes. Elizabeth also had six great grandchildren. She is survived by five sisters and two brothers; Beatrice Helton, Jessie Tipton, Dorothy LeMay, Betty Keaver and Margie Thompson, Clifford Gilbert, and Bob Gilbert. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death, Audra Higgins, Iris Banner, Edward Gilbert, and R.C. Gilbert. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM with a funeral service immediately following at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel, 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, GA. Additionally, a second funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1 PM with visitation from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church, Ellijay, GA; interment will follow at Mooney Memorial Gardens.
