The Rockdale County Board of Elections has called a special meeting on Thursday, March 31, 10 a.m. at 1400 Parker Road.

The Board will meet to discuss possible local legislation pertaining to the Rockdale Board of Elections and Registration.

A notice was published on Sunday announcing that local legislation to amend the 1995 act that created the Board of Elections would be introduced in the General Assembly.  District 92 state Representative Pamela Stephenson did not elaborate on what changes the bill would contain and told the News "What we’re looking at would be minor."

Elections Supervisor Cynthia Welch said earlier that she nor the three elections board members were aware of the bill or its content.

She said the two biggest questions to address would be who made the request for the legislation and why the elections board wasn't made aware of it sooner.
