Community organizers are launching a "Teach-In to Save the Economy" video viewing and discussion on Saturday, July 18, at the Nehemiah Empowerment Group Ministries, 1012 South Main Street, Conyers, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The event, facilitated by retired educator Antoinette Smith, features videos from a 12-video series released by former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich and MoveOn.com called "The Big Picture: Ideas to Save the Economy."

According to website descriptions, the videos feature policy ideas such as raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, expanding rather than cutting Social Security or making public higher education free.

Rockdale County residents Elaine Davis-Nickens, Stanley Williams Tisa Washington, Jackie Johnson-Dickson, Tommy Plummer, and Cheryl Board are hosting the video viewing, followed by discussion afterwards.
