After nearly 10 years of having no grave plots available for sale at Eastview Cemetery, the City of Conyers now has 610 new plots available for $1,000 each.

City council members approved the release of the plots for sale at the July 18 council meeting. The cemetery, located on Eastview Road, is managed, controlled and protected by the city. Information on purchasing a plot can be obtained at the city's Planning and Inspection Services office.

In other business conducted by the council Thursday, the newly-adopted Village Design zoning district received a name change to Gateway Village District. Members of the council said the new name, which will be referred to as the GVD, is better suited for the district. The name change was prompted in part by numerous complaints about the abbreviation for the old name of Village Design district.
