Early voting starts Friday

The 2010 general election is still less than two months away, but voters have an opportunity to make their decisions sooner rather than later as early voting begins Friday.


In-person absentee voting or early voting is from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Friday through Oct. 22, 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26 and 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 through Oct. 29 at the Rockdale County Board of Elections and Registrations located at 1400 Parker Rd.


Voters should bring one of six forms of acceptable identifications. The six forms are a Georgia driver's license (even if expired or suspended) a valid state or federal government photo ID, a valid U.S. Passport with photo, a valid government employee photo ID, a valid U.S. Military photo ID or a tribal photo ID. Voters can also send in absentee ballots to the Rockdale county Board of Elections and Registrations at 1400 Parker Rd, Lobby C, Conyers, GA 30094, via email to absentee@rockdalecounty.org or by fax to (770) 785-6932.


Absentee ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections office nolater than 7 p.m. on Election Day. An absentee ballot can be acquired by mail beginning 180 days prior to the election. The last day an absentee ballot can be mailed is Oct. 29.


The last day to register for the Nov. 2 general election is Oct. 4.
