Early voting sees 4.5 percent turnout

As of Oct. 5, the Office of the Supervisor of Elections reported 2,135 voters, or 4.5 percent of registered voters in Rockdale County, has turned out for early voting, both in person and by mail.

Out of those early votes, 1,429 were in person and 706 were by mail.

For in person voting, the polls will be open at 1400 Parker Road from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday until Oct. 26. The polls will be open specially on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The weekday hours will extend from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 27 through Oct. 29.


Voters should bring one of six forms of acceptable identifications. The six forms are a Georgia driver's license (even if expired or suspended) a valid state or federal government photo ID, a valid U.S. Passport with photo, a valid government employee photo ID, a valid U.S. Military photo ID or a tribal photo ID. Voters can also send in absentee ballots to the Rockdale county Board of Elections and Registrations at 1400 Parker Rd, Lobby C, Conyers, GA 30094, via email to absentee@rockdalecounty.org or by fax to (770) 785-6932.


Absentee ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections office nolater than 7 p.m. on Election Day. An absentee ballot can be acquired by mail beginning 180 days prior to the election. The last day an absentee ballot can be mailed is Oct. 29.


The last day to register for the Nov. 2 general election is Oct. 4.
