Dr. David Ellis, Sr., age 59 of Hazlehurst, died Thursday, December 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Ellis, Hazlehurst; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Maria Ellis, Jr., Daniel Ellis, Devin Ellis, all of Conyers, Phillip Plott, Christian Plott, both of Milner; daughter, Jennifer Humphries, Orlando, FL; parents, Edith and Ed Tanner, Conyers; grandchild, Daniella Ellis, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; mother and father-in-law, Carol and Keith Scruggs, Griffin. Dr. Ellis graduated from East Atlanta High School, Emory University, and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO. He was a physician at Hazlehurst Family Medicine and previously worked in Gwinnett County and Bolivar, MO. He was elected as Chief of Staff of Jeff Davis Hospital and was on the Board of The American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Ellis was of the Baptist faith and an avid Falcon fan. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 4:30 p.m. at Scot Ward's Harry White Chapel with Dr. James Merritt officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
