District 92 Special Election called for Nov. 3

The non-partisan Special Election for State House District 92 has been called by the governor's office for Nov. 3. The candidate qualifying period will start Monday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m. and end Wednesday, Sept. 30, noon at Elections Division of the Office of Secretary of State, 802 West Tower, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30334. The qualifying fee is $400. The election is a non-partisan special election with no party primary. However, each candidate's party affiliation, if declared, will be listed on the ballot. A run-off election, if needed, will be held Tuesday, December 1.

The election for State House District 92 will occur in portions of DeKalb and Rockdale counties to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Tonya Anderson. Anderson resigned to run in the Special Election for State Senate District 43. The District 43 Special Election will also be held Nov. 3 and a runoff would also be Dec. 1.

Voters can request an absentee ballot from their county registrar's office and must return to the county registrar's office by the close of polls on Election Day. To download an absentee ballot request form, please visit: www.sos.ga.gov/elections.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

Citizens must be registered to vote before the close of business on Monday, October 5, 2015 to participate in the November 3, 2015 special election. Voter registration forms can be obtained at any county registrar's office or from the Secretary of State's website: sos.ga.gov/elections. Citizens with a valid Georgia driver's license can register to vote online at registertovote.sos.ga.gov or by using the "GA Votes" app on a mobile device.
