In observance of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Rockdale County invites the public to a Cyber Security Awareness Forum on Thurs., Oct. 24, 6 p.m. - 7 p.m., at J.P. Carr Services Center, 981 Taylor St., Conyers, 30012.
Hosted by Rockdale Post II Commissioner JaNice Van Ness, the community forum is designed to provide essential resources and tips that will empower citizens to make smart and safe cyber choices.
At their last meeting in late September, the Board of Commissioners declared October to be Cyber Security Awareness Month and issued a proclamation to the County’s Management Information Systems department. In the proclamation, they encouraged people to educate themselves about things they can do to protect themselves and their families from the growing risk of malicious cyber attacks that cause significant financial and personal privacy losses.
Therefore, at the forum attendees will learn important steps they can take to strengthen their digital knowledge about cyber security. Law enforcement officials from Conyers Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will make presentations about how to prevent computer crimes and provide tips on Internet safety for adults and children.
The community forum is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
