Crash now cleared on I-20 WB
Two cars, one tractor-trailer involved

UPDATE: The vehicles have been cleared from I-20 westbound and traffic is flowing again.

A grey Honda van and black sedan were wrecked in the accident, which involved a tractor trailer towing a large orange backhoe. The van was flipped onto its side. The tractor trailer sustained little visible damage.

According to first responders at the scene, the van was behind the slow black sedan and was changing lanes to a lane with a tractor trailer towing the backhoe. The van and backhoe made contact.

Three children and two adults were reportedly in the van. The sedan and tractor trailer had one adult driver each.

(July 24, 2:31 p.m.) An accident on I-20 WB just past the Salem Road exit involving an overturned vehicle is backing up traffic for about a mile. The two right lanes are blocked.

According to Fire Safety Educator George Cox, of Rockdale County Fire and Rescue, the vehicle is on its side in the roadway, and patients are being transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. No one was trapped in the vehicle.

Avoid the area if possible or take the Access Road. Once the scene is clear from the roadway, traffic will be directed around the accident.
