The Conyers Police Department is expanding its presence in the northern area of the city limits by opening the doors of the new Conyers Police North Annex located at 1258 Irwin Bridge Road.

The annex, which was previously occupied by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office and was donated to the CPD for use by the Conyers Housing Authority, will house officers in the Special Operations, Internal Affairs and Community Outreach divisions.

The grand opening of the Conyers Police North Annex is scheduled for Thursday, July 28 from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.  The public is invited to tour the facility, observe demonstrations of police equipment and sit in on informational sessions regarding the Youth Against Violence and Neighborhood Watch programs.  Demonstrations on how to use crimemapping.com will be provided as well as an opportunity for citizens to sign up for the Nixle alert system.

“This annex really provides the Conyers Police Department with a chance to have a real presence—and hopefully a significant impact—in this highly populated residential and industrial sector of the city,” said Police Chief Gene Wilson.

Residents in the area are invited to attend the grand opening to learn more about the many programs police officers are involved in to foster and facilitate a safer, crime-free community.

“As our community continues to grow, so does the role of the police department in adapting to that growth and change by trying to simplify our interaction with citizens from a location that is more accessible to them,” said Chief Wilson.  “We look forward to what we can accomplish at the North Annex.”
