Rockdale County's Human Resources Director Jeff Pogue turned in his letter of resignation this week, according to a statement from the county.
Pogue told the News, "It's just that time for me to pursue something else." He said he was not retiring but declined to say what else he might be pursuing. Pogue, 60, moved to Georgia from Tennessee and closed on a house in Rockdale in December 2009.
County CEO and Commission Chairman Richard Oden said Pogue had notified him on Thursday. "It's a decision he made," said Oden. "We're going to move forward and wish him the best of luck."
Pogue's last day will be May 6. He was hired in October 2009, starting with an annual salary of $85,000. Previous HR director Arthur Reese was let go in June 2009 following the arrest and firing of then deputy HR director Chris Corey.
Deputy HR Director, Doris Patterson will manage the daily operations of the HR department until another person is appointed.
