Conyers teams round into form in time for region schedule
volleyball03

High school volleyball has hit its midpoint, and the three area teams are in very different places.

Heritage (15-5, 5-0), the perrennial power in the 8-AAAA region, has looked tough once again this season. The Lady Patriots go into their Savannah tournament at Armstrong Atlantic University (which starts today) having won seven of their last eight and posting two winning streaks of seven games or more.

They squeezed out a tough match against rivals Rockdale County on Tuesday night (25-18, 24-26, 25-22), helping secure their place atop the region standings.

Rockdale County is no slouch, itself, though. The Lady Bulldogs (11-9, 3-1) had a five game winning streak snapped in the Heritage game, and they have a fairly favorable schedule coming up featuring Salem.

As for Salem, well, the Lady Seminoles (0-5, 0-4) have shown that a new coach and a senior exodus has hurt their chances at contending in the region this year. Then again, the ladies have the second half of the season to make a run, along with their other Conyers rivals.
