A shooting Tuesday morning left one Conyers man dead in his apartment.

Jarvis Hughey, 24, was shot at least one time in his Meadow Crossing apartment, 1190 Mill Crest Walk, Conyers, around 3 a.m., according to Conyers Police spokesperson Kim Lucas.

According to Lucas, Hughey’s girlfriend, who was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, called police to the apartment complex. Lucas says she was hiding in the apartment when Hughey was shot by the suspect.

Police are exploring every possibility to determine what led to the shooting. There weren’t any signs of forced entry at the scene and there wasn’t anything obviously missing from the apartment, says Lucas.

The department is waiting on the coroner’s report to determine the cause of death.

The suspect who shot the Hughey fled the scene before police could arrive and is still at-large. Police do not have an accurate description of the suspect at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
