Conyers resident Ed Conway, executive director of Lakeview Community Action Committee, was named one of two "Atlanta’s Biggest Role Models" by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta this week. As part of their 50th anniversary celebration, the award was created "to find un-sung heroes in Atlanta who are helping to improve the lives of children," said BBBSMA’s Miranda Bryen. Over 250 inquiries were sent out to organizations in the metro area. Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s Katy Zahradnik, who nominated Conway, said, "I thought of Ed the second I read the criteria." Conway said he was overwhelmed when he learned of the honor. "I realized this award isn’t for me. I am accepting on behalf of all those people working in the trenches who have discovered that helping others is one of life’s most enriching experiences," he said.
