Students thinking about college will want to stop by the Rockdale Career Academy on Sunday, Feb. 12, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. for College Goal Sunday fair and seminars.
College Goal Sunday is a national event designed to assist students with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also called the FAFSA. This form is required by schools for financial aid such as grants, loans and in Georgia for the HOPE Scholarship. College representatives will not be present at this event.
From 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., free tax preparation will be available from experts who will help prepare tax returns for families with uncomplicated tax returns and yearly income less than $50,000. You will need all your tax information and forms in order to complete the FAFSA application.
At 2 p.m. - 3 p.m., Steven Crisp of Crisp College Advising will provide a presentation to help you navigate the college application process.
From 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., there will be a computer lab available to work on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You will have access to a computer lab where FAFSA facilitators will be available to use your tax information to complete the FAFSA and send it electronically to the government to assess for financial need.
Child Care will be available for children 4 years or older. Senior students should contact their school counselor for more information.
