Two Conyers Middle School students - sixth grader Kimberly Barrett and eighth grader Isabelle Kirkwood - will represent Rockdale County Public Schools at the state level for the Georgia Parent Teacher Association Reflections Contest.
In September, 20 students entered the CMS PTA Reflections contest. The top three students were selected from each grade level. Of those nine students, the first and second place winners went on to face 27 other middle school students on the district level.
Contest participants explored this year’s theme, “Believe, Dream, Inspire,” through visual arts, photography, film, music composition, literature, and dance choreography. The Reflections Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program that is designed to increase community awareness of the importance of arts in education.
The two CMS district winners were recognized at the Jan. 16 Rockdale County Board of Education meeting. Georgia PTA said the state contest is still underway and winners will be announced later.
