C.J. Hicks Elementary moved forward one step in its quest to become an IB school.

The school was notified that it is officially a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that hold a philosophy of commitment to high quality, challenging, international education.

Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) as IB World Schools can offer any of its three academic programs: the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the IB Diploma Programme. Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

With this status, the school has been granted access to the online curriculum center (OCC). The OCC is a web site for teachers and administrators, which offers a variety of education resources, online access to subject area experts, and discussion sessions with IB teachers around the world.
