City holds millage at 9.9 mills

IN BRIEF: The Conyers city council set this year's property tax at the same millage rate as last year - 9.9 mills. There was a 0.5 percent dip in the net tax digest, which represents about $28,000 less in tax revenue. "We are running very lean," said City Manager Tony Lucas. The city implemented a hiring freeze and a hold on pay increases or bonuses earlier this year.

The rate was approved unanimously; Councilman Dr. John Fountain was not in attendance.
