Grassroots group Homeowners for Better Government is holding its first Citizens' Forum on Monday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. at the J.P. Carr Community Center.

"It's going to be a unique event," said organizer Don Meyer. "Not to my knowledge in 30 years has this been done."

The forum will be open to serve as a place to discuss any citizen concerns and questions as well as ideas.

"Surprise" speakers will be available to address topics such as in-home daycare facilities, liability for homeowners living near in-home daycares and the special use permit required for in-home daycare business owners and any possible changes to that.

Since the discussion will be attendee driven, Meyer said there might be discussion about the recent property tax exemption rollbacks as well.

Meyer said the suggestions collected from Monday's forum will be submitted to the Board of Commissioners.
