Chamber board votes to support ESPLOST
Conyers-Rockdale-Chamber-of

IN BRIEF:   The Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce board voted today to support the E-SPLOST one penny sales tax for education capital projects, such as building new schools, installing security measures and updating technology infrastructure, which will be on the ballot November 5.

The proposed E-SPLOST, which would collect one penny for every retail dollar spent in the county, is projected to collect $83.6 million over five years and would be Rockdale's fourth E-SPLOST. Previous E-SPLOSTs  have paid off the school system's bond debt, helped build a new CJ Hicks Elementary School and a significant part of Rockdale Career Academy, repair school buildings, purchase new school busses and more.

Chamber committee directors have said in the past a strong education system is important to the economy and is one of the first things company executives will look for when they are considering where to set up shop.
