Cell phone recycling drive success

Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful recently held a Cell Phone Recycling Drive at several locations around the county for a worthy cause.

Held in September, the eco-conscious event collected 189 cell phones from citizens who safely discarded and recycled the phones in an effort to prevent hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic from leaking into Rockdale’s water supply. The public recycled cell phones of every condition, including gently-used phones.

The collected cell phones were donated to Project ReNeWal, a non-profit domestic violence intervention program servicing citizens in Rockdale, Newton and Walton Counties.

Project ReNeWal will refurbish and distribute the cell phones to its Domestic Violence Intervention Program.
