IN BRIEF: A car engine caught on fire at a Irwin Bridge Road church daycare center before being extinguished Tuesday afternoon. The blaze was confined to the engine compartment of a Chevy Impala parked about 30 feet from the nearest building at the Voices of Faith daycare center, according to Rockdale County Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson Michael Morris.

Two fire engines and a battalion unit responded to the scene. "Crews were able to open the hood of the car and extinguish the fire. No one inside the daycare was in any danger from the fire," said Morris.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown as of publication.
