Bulldogs compete at state title meet

The Rockdale County cross-country program competed at the Class AAAAAA Cross-Country Championships Nov. 9 at Carrollton High School, placing 21st in the boys race and 30th in the girls event.

Dax Willette led the boys' program with a 37th place finish in a time of 17:29.50, while the Bulldogs tallied 561 total points to finish just outside the top 20, behind Grayson.

Elizabeth Lowe paced the girls' program with a 187th place finish in a time of 25:29.13. The Lady Bulldogs finished 30th, one spot behind Newton High with 960 points.

Logan Hull (18:04.98) joined Willette in the top 100 with an 88th place finish. Jonathan Butler (124, 28:38.43), Sulaimane Bangura (140, 18:55.48), Kevin Mendez (190, 20:15.94), Josh Dryden (197, 20:29.21), and Myles Matthews (216, 21:41.69) also represented the Bulldogs at the event.

Kyandi Lattimer (193, 25:57.88), Amani Mansur (196, 26:04.07), Oryah Bangura (199, 26:16.08) and Jada Jackson (210, 33:58.69) rounded out the Lady Bulldogs competitors.

Brookwood captured the team title with 105 points, edging out Peachtree Ridge and Harrison, which both finished with 121 points. Peachtree Ridge's Kevin Mills earned the individual boys title with a time of 16:03.82.

Peachtree Ridge earned the girls team title with a low of 119 points, holding off Brookwood (131) and Marietta High School (151). Avery Bussjager of Walton High School ran a time of 19:04.20 to finish first in the girls' individual race.
