Honey Creek was one of only seven Georgia schools to be honored with this distinction. Out of 120,000 elementary schools in the country, only 314 schools received this special honor.

The Blue Ribbon Schools program recognizes schools that are academically superior and/or have shown great progress despite having many disadvantaged students.
Superintendent of Rockdale schools Dr. Samuel T. King said "The students, teachers parents and administrators of Honey Creek have worked hard to achieve this honor, we are proud of their diligence and dedication and we look forward to the continued success of students throughout the district as we strive to provide every child the opportunity for a quality education."
