Baseball movie filming in Social Circle

Old time baseball is coming to Social Circle Friday, as Legendary Entertainment is filming the final two scenes of the upcoming Jackie Robinson-inspired movie "42."

Crews will be filming at a private home and in downtown Social Circle at the corner of Cherokee Road and East Hightower Trail, according to a production letter to area residents and merchants.

Road closures

Road closures will begin Friday morning for set up at Cherokee Road, between Sycamore Street and Hightower Trail, but cars will be able to use side streets to go around the closure.

Filming crews will begin arriving in the afternoon and will film into the evening at a private home at the corner of Dogwood Avenue and East Hightower Trail. Trail will periodically be held up on Hightower Trail during the filming.

After sunset crews will move to the downtown location.

"The scene features a car that originates from the corner of Cherokee and Hightower, and drives south through town," the letter reads.

Filming is expected to end at daybreak at which crews will being restoring the town to its original condition.

The shoot will be the production last day of filming for the movie.

"42" is the story of Jackie Robinsion, who broke the black color barrier in Major League Baseball when he was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

Robinson is being played by Chadwick Boseman, who has mainly had smaller roles on TV shows, while the role of the famous Dodgers manager Branch Rickey is being played by Harrison Ford. Alan Tudyk, Christopher Meloni, Lucas Black and John C. McGinley are also starring in the movie.
