Celebrating the 38th year of the organization, Atlanta Junior Golf (AJG) unveils its 2012 Summer Series schedule setting the course for another season of fun, quality and affordable golf tournaments, coming to Newton and Rockdale counties.
With events held across the Greater Atlanta area and beyond, junior golfers can play golf at outstanding facilities while keeping their travel times and costs to a minimum.
Teeing off May 29th, AJG's Summer Series will host over 70 events and provide more than 7,000 tee times in 23 Georgia counties for boys and girls of all skill levels, between the ages of 7-18.
"We're proud to present another outstanding schedule this summer and are grateful for the support of more than 70 Atlanta Area golf courses," said Matt Hooper, AJG executive director. "Several of the sites hosting a tournament for our juniors this summer were, in fact, on our inaugural 1974 schedule - it's definitely been a special treat for our staff to partner with these facilities to grow the game of golf here in Atlanta over the past 38 years."
G features three main divisions: Beginner, 9-Hole and 18-Hole.
Beginner division events take place on par-3 and executive style courses and are open to participants just getting started playing.
This division provides an opportunity to grow with golf while learning the inherent values and traditions of the game.
The 9-Hole and 18-Hole divisions, each separated
into "club" or "open" categories and also by age divisions, provide juniors an appropriate level of competition allowing them to have fun with the game while progressing at their own rate.
As one of the oldest and largest junior golf associations in the nation, juniors from Athens to Carrolton and from Dalton to Macon are afforded opportunities to play on some of the area's best golf courses.
The following Georgia counties (# of events) will be visited by AJG this summer: Bartow (2); Carroll (2); Cherokee (5); Clarke (1); Cobb (6); Coweta (4); Dawson (1); DeKalb (5); Douglas (1); Fayette (1); Forsyth (1); Fulton (13); Gwinnett (8); Hall (3); Henry (2); Jackson (1); Morgan (2); Newton (1); Pickens (1); Rockdale (2); Walton (1); White (1); Whitfield (1).
