A Dart Container employee was arrested in connection with a July 1 suspected arson that took place at the plant.

Maurice Dewitt, 21, of Conyers was arrested Wednesday, July 3 and charged with arson and false statements.

On  July 1, firefighters and deputies responded to a fire alarm at Dart Container, formerly Solo Cup, at 1455 Ga. Highway 138.

They discovered three fires appeared to have been intentionally set in two men's restrooms at opposite ends of the building.

According to Rockdale County Sheriff's Office Investigator Michael Camp, several witnesses placed Dewitt at the locations at the time of each of the fires. "We interviewed several employees/witnesses and Dewitt became our suspect due to strange behavior and false statements throughout the investigation." Investigators also found other evidence reportedly linking Dewitt to the arson.

Investigators believe he became disgruntled over a scheduling issue.
