As the first vacation day of the school year approaches, parents won't have to look far to find something to do with their kids this Labor Day thanks to the American Legion.

Conyers American legion Post 77 is hosting a Community Fun Day starting at 10 a.m. at the Post on Highway 138.

The fun day will feature a car and motorcycle show, a blood drive as well as booths for food and games for children.

Last year around 200 people came to the inaugural Community Fun Day, and Sons of the American legion Jr. Vice Commander Zeste Debro said they expect more this yaer.

"Last year it was packed," Debro said. "The biggest thing this year is we're trying to attract teenagers."

In order to try and attract that audience, the Legion is looking to bring in 150 cars and motorcycles for the car show. The charge per car for the show is $25.

The American Legion is hoping those teenagers sign up for their new junior sports shooting club being offered starting on Monday.

Along with the shooting club booth will be a home buyer's booth, booths to sign up for the legion and its auxiliaries, local restaurants and items such as jewelry and children's clothing. Last year furniture was even available.

The American Legion will also be open for blood donations until 6 p.m.
