'Abbey Road LIVE' rocks Olde Town Conyers

Olde Town Conyers came alive Saturday night with the sounds of "Abbey Road LIVE" rocking the Pavilion into the evening.

The Conyers Rockdale Council for the Arts led by Jackie Sprague hit a home run with this event. It was the first event of a plan to turn the Olde Town Pavilion and grassy area located beside it into an entertainment spot, similar to the Atlanta Chastain experience.

The Beatles cover band had folks of all ages - especially the Baby Boomers, who can remember when the Fab Four presented a new sound and brought about a revolution in music - laughing and smiling.

A sold-out crowd danced, sang, clapped and enjoyed the evening.

City Councilman Vince Evans told the large crowd that that Saturday night's happening was an experiment of sorts. It looked like it was an experiment that worked, as the band was given a standing ovation at the end of the evening when they closed with a performance of the iconic "Hey Jude." There was barely a dry eye in the place.
