A White Linen Affair to remember

Arts aficionados will have a chance to help keep the performing and visual arts alive in Rockdale County while celebrating in style at the first ever "White Linen Affair," fundraiser for the Conyers-Rockdale Arts Council on Saturday, Aug. 22, hosted by East Atlanta Cultural Affairs.

The event, which promises to be a chic night of celebration, will be thrown at the lavish European-style Villa Serena property, 3200 E. Hightower Trail, Conyers. The theme of the event will be Celebrating the Arts While Giving Back.

"The idea came about because of the desire I have to give back to the community," said organizer Christila Milner. "Through the arts kids discover their purpose day by day. It's important that we keep opportunities available to them, like exposing them to the Olde Town Art Gallery."

"I do business in this area. I realize if it weren't for the people in the community I would not be able to survive. It is my responsibility to support the community and not just take from it," Milner said.

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $50 for VIP admission, and $160 for a corporate table. The proceeds will go to support the Conyers-Rockdale Council for the Arts, and the dress code calls for white.

The festivities will start at 7 p.m. and will end around 11 p.m. Guests will enjoy gourmet food, as well as music from jazz musician and multi-platinum producer Eric McCain, classical musician Dr. Colin Ford, and the Sol Factor Band.

Even though tickets are selling fast, they still may be purchased online at www.eacaffairs.eventbrite.com Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor for the event, can contact Miller at (678) 748-0346.
