A 79-year-old Covington man accidentally crashed his car into the front entrance of the Rite Aid pharmacy at the corner of Emory Street and U.S. Highway 278 Monday afternoon, but no one was hurt and the store remains open.
The man was bringing his 77-year-oldwife back from Newton Medical Center and stopped to get a prescription; as he pulled into a parking space, his foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas causing his 2009 Ford Focus to jump the concrete parking stop and crash into the glass front doors of Rite Aid, according to Sgt. Arvo Bowen with the Covington Police Department.
“It was an honest mistake; thank God no one was hurt,” Bowen said at the scene.
The names of the people involved were not immediately released.
The car was being towed away as of 3:15 p.m.
