740 heroes: Rockdale veterans and officials marked the 60th anniversary of the Korean War with a ceremony at the Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Park on June 27. Along with Rockdale County veterans who served in the Korean War, special guests included Sunny K. Park, CEO of General Building Maintenance, Inc., President of Global Sun Investments, Inc., and a Korean-American and naturalized citizen who financed Georgia’s "Korean War Memorial" at the state Capitol, and Major General (Army, Retired) Gordon J. "Duke" Duquemin, Korean army adviser 1949-50 and combat officer in Korean War with the 5th Regimental Combat Team. Other dignitaries included Rockdale County Board of Commissioners Chairman and CEO Richard Oden, Veteran’s Memorial Park Foundation board president and former county commissioner Norman Wheeler, former county commissioner and World War II veteran Bud Soesbee and Veterans’ Services Director and Vietnam veteran Tommy Clack.
