Newton Medical Center saw its largest ever baby delivered Tuesday, when a 14 pound, 3 ounce boy, Noel Garcia, was born to Monica Garcia.
The 22-inch long Noel was born at 6:49 a.m. by C-section because the baby was larger than Monica Garcia's prior 10-pound baby, said Linda Moseley, Newton Medical's director of marketing.
"Looking at this beautiful baby will put a smile on your face." Dr. Cathy Larrimore said. "The excitement surrounding the birth of Newton Medical Center's largest baby ever is a special Christmas gift for me. I am so happy to have been a part of his birth. I will think of Noel for many Christmases to come."
Monica, speaking through a translator, said she was so proud she had such a large baby boy, and she and her husband are excited and glad he was born safely.
This was Monica's fourth child, including a set of twins that were born at 8 pounds each.
