The power of a praying woman

With March being Women's Appreciation Month, it's only appropriate for Good Hope Baptist Church to have a day focused on celebrating women.

Its ninth annual Victorian Tea is this Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. And it all began with the church's first lady Stephanie Tomlinson, who said the Lord dropped in her spirit to have a social event for women after establishing a Women‘s Day a couple years prior.

"The idea was to get women together from different churches and the community and just sit around and have a meal," Tomlinson said.

Church member Linda Bekoe, a caterer, was assigned to prepare the meal and organize the program for the event.
"It's just a relaxing time," Bekoe said.

The theme for this year is the power of a praying woman, and the color is a shade of pink in respect of breast cancer survivors.

Everyone is asked to bring their favorite poem to share. Attendees can also expect fellowship, door prizes and refreshments. The dress is casual but no jeans.

Good Hope Baptist Church is located at 1142 Highway 162 S., Covington, Ga, 30016. (770) 787-4928.
