Prospect Church welcomes National Guard Colonel for July 4 service

Air National Guard Col. Max Wood, a former U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, will be the featured speaker for a casual worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Prospect United Methodist Church, 6752 Ga. Highway 212 in Covington.

Wood served as a Justice Department Attache in Iraq, helping to modernize the nation's judicial system. He wrote a book about his experience, "Iraq: Seeing the Real War," according to a release from the church.

A Forest Park native, Wood is a graduate of LaGrange College and the University of Georgia Law School. He served five years as an Air Force JAG officer and also served as a prosecutor for the Prosecuting Attorney's Council of Georgia.
