After years of high quality children’s events and programs, Abiding Grace Lutheran Church on Ga. Highway 212 in Covington is opening its first preschool in August. The church, about to celebrate its 10th anniversary this March, has become well known for events like Christmas 4 Kids, Easter 4 Kids, Vacation Bible School, Soccer Camp, and now Mornings with Mommy. Now, they are taking it to the next level by opening up a preschool for 2, 3, and 4 year olds.

Church pastor Jonathan Scharf said, "Our whole purpose for being here is to share the word of God with as many as possible. God’s word tells all of us parents how important it is to share the truth of God’s love with our children, so giving an opportunity for parents to have their children in God’s word at an early age just makes sense. Add to that, the fact that we’ve been so blessed with caring, talented people, passionate about sharing the joy Jesus brings with children, and this is a natural next step for us. We’ve been talking about it and planning for it for quite some time. We launched the "Mornings with Mommy" program last year to kind of test the waters and what we’ve seen is that our community has a real desire for opportunities for children to grow in their knowledge, skills, values, and also faith — in a safe and Christ-centered environment."

Abiding Grace Lutheran Preschool will operate from 9 a.m. to noon daily with the 2 year olds meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the 3 and 4 year olds meeting on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Registration opens on Feb. 4.

This first year, the preschool is just running two classes, so registering early will be important. The class sizes will be small. (The cap for the 2 year olds is 12 students and the 3 and 4 year olds will be capped at 15).
