Covington First United Methodist Church will hold its fourth annual Steeple Chase benefit walk/run Oct. 26.
All proceeds will benefit Special Olympics, The Miracle League and Chimney Park. The Steeple Chase follows a route through historic Covington, passing the steeples of Covington First UMC, First Baptist and First Presbyterian churches. There will be a 1-mile fun run at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:30 a.m., and a Special Needs Quarter Mile at 9:30 a.m. All special-needs participants will receive free entry, a T-shirt, medal and mini-pumpkin. Bands and fans will cheer on the quarter-mile participants. All children under 12 will receive medals and mini-pumpkins for participating in the 1-mile and 5K races. Overall and Master Awards for male and female participants will be original, handcrafted trophy replicas of Covington First UMC.
